Quick answer: This is a 7-night, 8-day guided group tour departing from Tirana and crossing three countries Albania, North Macedonia, and Kosovo to visit the UNESCO World Heritage cities of Berat and Ohrid, the capitals Tirana, Skopje, and Prishtina, the Ottoman town of Prizren, the Matka Canyon National Park, and the Adem Jashari Memorial Complex, from €1,170 per person in a double or twin room. The tour includes airport pick-up, 7 breakfasts, 1 welcome dinner with beer or wine, 1 agritourism dinner with beer or wine at the Alpeta Winery near Berat, 9 guided sightseeing tours, a boat tour through Matka Canyon, a private deluxe motor coach, and an Expert Tour Director and local guides throughout. Group size is capped at 12 travelers.
Albania, North Macedonia, and Kosovo share a dense and complicated history Illyrian, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Yugoslav, with the violent fractures of the 1990s still visible in the monuments, the architecture, and the conversations you’ll have with people along the way. This eight-day itinerary traces that shared history through six cities and two national parks, moving from the Albanian capital east into North Macedonia, north into Kosovo, and back to Tirana via Prizren in a loop that covers more ground, more cultures, and more layers of history than almost any other week of travel in the Western Balkans.
The tour includes two UNESCO World Heritage sites Berat and Ohrid two national capitals rarely combined on the same itinerary (Skopje and Prishtina), a deeply moving stop at the Adem Jashari Memorial Complex in Kosovo, an agritourism dinner at the Alpeta Winery near Berat, and a boat ride through the Matka Canyon gorge. It suits history and culture enthusiasts, travelers interested in the post-Yugoslav region, first-time visitors to all three countries, and anyone who wants to understand the Western Balkans as a single interconnected story rather than three separate destinations.

The tour covers Albania (Tirana, Kruja, Durrës, and Berat), North Macedonia (Ohrid, Matka Canyon, and Skopje), and Kosovo (Prishtina and Prizren), crossing two international borders during the week. A valid passport is required for all border crossings.
Citizens of the EU, US, and Canada can enter both North Macedonia and Kosovo without a visa for short stays. A valid passport with at least six months’ validity and at least two blank pages is required. Entry requirements can vary by nationality, so it is advisable to check the current rules for your country before departure.
Albania uses the Albanian Lek (ALL), North Macedonia uses the Macedonian Denar (MKD), and Kosovo uses the Euro (€). Better exchange rates are generally available in-country than at home. Debit and credit cards using the EMV chip system are accepted at ATMs throughout the region. Gratuities for guides and drivers must be paid in cash, so it is worth planning ahead with the relevant currencies.
The package includes 7 breakfasts (buffet style at the hotel each morning), a welcome dinner with beer or wine on Day 1, and an agritourism dinner with beer or wine at the Alpeta Winery on Day 3. All other meals across the eight days are at your own arrangement and expense. Water is included at the two included dinners; other drinks are not, with the exception of the beer or wine specifically noted.
Alpeta is an agritourism estate and winery in the hills outside Berat, producing wine from local grape varieties using traditional and modern methods. The tour of the vineyard and winery on Day 3 includes a look at the vinification process before a dinner of seasonal, home-grown produce from the estate, accompanied by Alpeta’s own wines. It is one of the most distinctive and genuinely local dining experiences on the tour.
The Adem Jashari Memorial Complex in Prekaz, Kosovo, marks the site of the 1998 Serbian security forces attack on the Jashari family home in which Adem Jashari co-founder of the Kosovo Liberation Army and more than fifty members of his family were killed over three days of sustained assault. The ruins of the house are preserved as they were left, and the complex serves as both a memorial and a museum of Kosovo’s path to independence. It is one of the most historically significant and emotionally powerful sites on the entire tour.
The Matka Canyon stop on Day 5 includes a boat ride through the gorge to Vrelo Cave, one of the deepest underwater caves in the world. The canyon is also known for its butterfly colonies and the medieval monasteries visible on the cliff faces above the water. Both the boat ride and the Vrelo Cave entry are included in the tour price.
Airport pick-up on arrival in Tirana on Day 1 is included. Airport drop-off on Day 8 is not included in the standard price but can be added for €25 per person at the time of booking.
Good Albania handpicks all hotels on the tour, typically 3- to 4-star properties with private bathrooms, in-room safes, and Wi-Fi (which may be limited to common areas in some locations). Specific hotels vary by departure date and are confirmed approximately 30 days before the tour. Some hotels are on narrow streets and may require carrying luggage a short distance from the coach.
The tour is rated medium physical activity. Most days involve 2–3 km of walking on city streets, cobblestones, stairs, and hills. Stone and marble surfaces can be slippery even when dry. Mobility aids such as wheelchairs or walkers are not recommended. Travelers should be healthy enough to participate in all included walks without assistance.
Good Albania recommends €8–10 per person per day for the Tour Director, €4 per person per day for the driver, and €5 per local guide. On a multi-country tour with a single Tour Director, it is worth asking them in advance which currency they prefer. Tips are paid in cash at the end of the tour.
Yes. A private version of this tour is available from €1,760, with the flexibility to adjust dates, pace, and specific inclusions. Get in touch with Good Albania directly to discuss a private or tailor-made itinerary across Albania, North Macedonia, and Kosovo.
