Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains

Via Mezdi 27, 7500 St. Moritz, Switzerland - View on map
Description

A Majestic Alpine Legacy

Set in a striking 19th-century structure, the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz exudes an aura of European elegance wrapped in alpine splendor. Dating back to 1864, it was established around the famed Mauritius Spring, a mineral water source integral to St. Moritz’s heritage as a spa town.

Located at the Mauritius Spring, the hotel is the only five-star property in St. Moritz positioned right opposite the Signalbahn cable car, granting seamless access to the Corviglia ski region and mountain trails.

Rooms, Suites & Alpine Comfort

The hotel houses 205 rooms and suites, each designed to deliver alpine luxury, comfort, and panoramic views of Engadin’s mountain landscapes. Many accommodations come with balconies or terraces, allowing guests to breathe in crisp high-altitude air and take in sweeping vista.

For larger groups or families, the hotel offers expansive alpine suites, some with two bedrooms, open-plan living and dining areas, full kitchens, and terrace or balcony views.

Wellness, Spa & Recovery

A central draw is the 2,800 m² Alpine Spa, which channels the hotel’s heritage by incorporating the mineral water from the Mauritius Spring for therapeutic use.   The spa includes an indoor pool, an outdoor heated pool, multiple saunas, steam rooms, treatment suites, and wellness programs.

Culinary Excellence & Social Life

The Kempinski hotel offers three (or more) highly regarded dining venues, plus a stylish lobby bar. Historically, the hotel housed the Michelin-starred restaurant Cà d’Oro, though as of 2025 it was closed to make room for a new concept NEORA.

In past years, guests could enjoy steak specialities, sushi, and refined European menu compositions.

Events, Culture & Entertainment

Beyond lodging, Kempinski St. Moritz is active in cultural programming. It hosts Gourmet Festivals, dinner shows, and live entertainment, for example, the Billionaire Kempinski Bar concept and extravagant kitchen parties. It’s a place that balances refined elegance with spirited social experiences.

Why the Kempinski St. Moritz Stands Out

• Heritage & Spa Origins: Built around the mineral spring that historically fueled St. Moritz’s identity as a spa destination.

• Prime Access to Slopes: Direct proximity to the Signalbahn cable car and Corviglia ski area.

• Comprehensive Wellness: A major spa facility utilizing the spring’s water, multiple wellness amenities, indoor/outdoor pools, and a holistic experience.

• Blend of Tradition & Renewal: While steeped in history, the property continues to evolve, strong renovation efforts tie its past and future.
